Julian Fellowes Titanic

I read an article this morning about a 4 part miniseries which will air in April called Titanic.  It was written by Julian Fellowes who also wrote Downton Abbey.  Since this is my THIRD mention in a post of that series, I'm clearly a fan.

I am so happy to have all of these opportunities to see amazing hair!  The series is sure to offer examples of incredible hair, hats, hair accessories, and clothes.  This time period is the trend in hair today.  I have so much inspiration at my fingertips!

Here Comes the Bride...

On 11/11/11 I had the privilege of doing the hair for a beautiful bride and her bridesmaids.  Our relationship started in Miami.  I'm not sure if she became my friend first or a client, but she's both.  My lovely friend and bride got married in Islamorada.  It was dreamy...  She has a beautiful family, she has a beautiful husband and I think every beach wedding should have beautiful white leather furniture on which to sit seaside.  Ahhh....

Headbands

The ancient Greeks wore wreaths often adorned with jewels and gold, which would be the modern day headband.  In the early 1900's women wore wide ornate headbands which were called headache bands, as they believed they would relieve headaches due to the tension put on the temples.

I love headbands but I'm getting tired of seeing similar styles on everyone.  Here are a few I have not seen before.

Halston

I finally watched the film Ultrasuede:In Search of Halston.  I enjoyed hearing what others thought of Halston as a designer and I found his business empire he built to be fascinating.  His designs are almost always recognizable.  Simple, draped, sexy...

Halston started as a milliner, he designed the pillbox hat worn by Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.  His designs are historic...

Best Jobs of 2012

I just read an article in U.S. News and World Report that hairdresser is one of the best jobs of 2012.  The Bureau of Labor Statistics (which sounds reputable enough) projects that employment growth in the industry will rise 15.7 percent between 2010 and 2020.

I have yet to meet a hairdresser whether they've worked for 1 year or 30, who doesn't still love their profession and feel so fortunate to be doing something that gives them such fulfillment.  Being a hairdresser is emotionally, physically and technically demanding which are expectations I appreciate.  It has made me a better person and a better hairdresser!
