Fun Color

Adding fun color to hair has become quite popular.  Most don't want a permanent change so temporary color as well as using chalk has been a great option.  This is my favorite, though.  Adding yarn to hair in a braid!  So genius.  What a fun, stylish way to enjoy the trend!!!

The Mullet

Rare London
No, not hair, the dress...  I have a mullet dress and I have to admit, I absolutely love how it feels casual and dressy at the same time.  It did take me a while to get comfortable wearing ANYTHING called a mullet!  I'm not a fan of a gown mullet dress and I'm not keen on them if the front is very short and the back is very long.  I think it should be more subtle.  Mullet hair is business in the front, party in the back but the dress is party in the front, business in the back...

Cannes Hair

The Cannes film festival is happening right now.  This is my favorite hair so far...  Very retro and makes me think of the French Riviera!

Pampered

I work in an industry which largely involves pampering people.  It feels good to get pampered, it also feels good to pamper.  Most people in the salon/spa industry love to pamper others, but often don't take the opportunity to get pampered.  We should take the opportunity more often so that we understand what others want and need from us.

My incredible friend treated me today for a day at a local spa.  I didn't want the day to end!  She is also a hairdresser and we both decided it's pretty nice being on the other side of the chair!

Nick Veasey

Nick Veasey is a photographer who uses x-ray machines to photograph fashion.  He reveals his work in metaphors, as most artists do.  He challenges the observer to see inside, to not judge the exterior, and also to be reminded of how our society has become security and surveillance driven...  I personally don't need to know his thought process, I think these images are beautiful, delicate, and at the same time powerful...

Rest in Peace...

My first blog post was about Vidal Sassoon and the documentary about his life.  He passed today, and every hairdresser around the world is stopping to appreciate what he did for our craft and what he did for our industry.  Vidal Sassoon approached hair with architecture and geometry, which forever transformed the art of cutting hair.

Vidal Sassoon elevated the career of hairdressing to something we can be proud of.
