Kenneth

I read a great article in the August 2013 issue of Allure magazine.  It features the late Kenneth Battelle, stylist to Jacqueline Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn, as well as countless other celebrities and socialites.  He started the big hair, teasing, roller set trend.  He believed that hair could be the accessory rather than hats which had been the accessory and worn every day previously.  He was an admired and respected man, in addition to having a vision.  Click on 'Allure' above to read the article...

Flawless

Where has this been my whole life?  I wouldn't say it is a wrinkle eraser, but it is the best makeup primer I've used so far...  I even love it with no makeup!

Coco

My friends/clients spoil me!  I just received this clever gift from a friend/client, which is a framed quote by Coco Chanel.  It has found a nice place in the salon!  You have probably guessed by now that I love her, and her quotes have always resonated with me.

Turban

My new favorite item right now is the Turbie Twist, which you can get at your local drugstore or online.  It is a microfiber towel which absorbs more water so your hair will dry quicker.  The design is made to easily wrap and secure...  I may need a few for the salon!

Hair...

Bob Recine is an amazing avant-garde hairstylist.  He started as an artist, with many of his installations in Henri Bendel windows receiving attention.  A renowned hairstylist convinced him to become a hairdresser after seeing the windows and he has taken his artistry and hairdressing to another level.  He recently did a window in Barneys for Chloe.  I love his explanation of hair as a fabric, which was one of the first lessons I learned 23 years ago in hair school.  Today I continue to approach hair as fabric with respect to it's structure and that has helped me to achieve beautiful results in my career.  Oh I love hair!
